The World Series of Beer Pong V Wraps Up a Succesful Weekend in Vegas
Another Successful Start to the New Year in Las Vegas for The World Series of Beer Pong V™
The WSOBP V™ Comes to a Close with Two-Time World Champs Smashing Time Taking 1st Place!
Las Vegas, Nevada—January 8, 2010—This past weekend, beer pong players from around the world flocked to The Flamingo Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada for the largest beer pong competition in the world. BPONG.COM™, founders and creators of The World Series of Beer Pong V™, welcomed over 450 beer pong competitors from The United States, Canada, England, Ireland and Japan to The World Series of Beer Pong V and crowned one team the World Champions!
“The World Series of Beer Pong V was an epic success, and we have huge plans for The WSOBP VI,” said Billy Gaines, founding partner of BPONG and The World Series of Beer Pong V. “The players are what makes this event happen and we have the best teams in the world out here. It’s great to watch the friendships form and grow over the years, and the competition and sportsmanship is unbelievable. We all can’t wait to see what 2010 holds for us!”
Notable media in attendance this year included The Jay Leno Show, which entered a team to play (Team Broverload, made up of popular field correspondents Ross the Intern and Owen Benjamin). The segment will air on NBC this Friday, January 8, 2010. Maxim Magazine and G4’s Attack of The Show also attended, along with College humor, which entered a team, Team Shocker.
The final round was announced by veteran voice of the MMA Bruce Buffer, setting the stage for the final round of beer pong where team Smashing Time from Long Island, New York made WSOBP history by becoming the first team to win back-to-back World Series titles!With repeating as World Champions of Beer Pong, Smashing Time walked away with the $50,000 grand prize. In second place, team Since Sliced Bread from Michigan played to the end, losing to Smashing Time 1-2 in the best-of-three finals and went home with the $5,000 second place prize.
